First few days

The new school year has gotten off to a terrific start. We opened the year with a prayer service where we were reminded that the Lord gives us assistance each day and that even the Lord had friends. We welcomed 48 new students to our school this year, several from St. Lawrence O’Toole School. We are delighted to have them join our parish school family. The new students made for an interesting summer. Much of the summer was spent ordering additional books and getting desks and chairs.

Here are some of the highlights of our first few weeks:

• Our first Mass of the school year, Friday, September 5th, was blessed with our Student Council Members being inducted into office and receiving a special blessing from Msgr. Moore.

• At our Back To School Night on Tuesday, September 9th, all of our families had the opportunity to reconnect with friends, greet our new families and, of course, spend time with, their child’s teacher. This was also the night when parents were able to share their time and talents with us by volunteering in the school and our classrooms.

• On Thursday, September 11th, we held another prayer service to remember those whose lives were taken in New York City, Washington, D. C. and Pennsylvania and the families they left behind.

• Our school library opened with a new look this summer. With the help of our Girl Scouts and our new Librarian, the books have been catalogued electronically, the walls have been painted and it has a new carpet. Please stop in and see all the hard work that has gone into making look so great.

Later this month our students will begin band lessons through the Paul Effman Music Company and have their School Photos taken. Much more will be happening this year and I will keep you updated.
